Hey Ya’ll! This time I wanna share about my bike trips to a Badui Village called Kasepuhan Ciptagelar at Sukamulya, Sukabumi. Kasepuhan Ciptagelar is one of the Banten Kidul traditional cultural villages. People of Kasepuhan Ciptagelar steadfastly maintain their ancient cultural tradition and law, rejecting most trappings of modern society. Most of the innermost community, The Badui Dalam (inner Badui people), live in one of three villages, Cibeo, Dikertawana, and Cikeusik, nestled amongst the forested foothills around Mt. Kendang.
Deliberately spurning all contact with the world beyond their group, and are surrounded by a protective buffer zone of outer Badui people. People of Badui Dalam is headed by a “puun”, a sacred hereditary spiritual and temporal leader. They are governed themselves by their own tradition and law, thus there are no schools, no medical facilities and no government offices of any kind. They strive to live in harmony with the earth and in conformity with the ways prescribed by their ancestors to prevent devastation and calamity throughout the world.
