cash

82 years ago today a boy name John R. Cash was born in Kingsland, Arkansas, United States. He was the fourth of seven children to Ray Cash and Carrie Cloveree. Cash was named J. R. Cash because his parents could not think of a name. When Cash enlisted in the Air Force, they wouldn’t let him use initials as his name, so he started to use the legal name John R. Cash. In 1955, when signing with Sun Records, he took Johnny Cash as his stage name. He’s known as “The Man in Black” cause he regularly performed dressed in all black. Cash died of complications from diabetes at approximately 2:00 a.m. on September 12, 2003—less than four months after his wife. We just want to celebrate his legacy today and may his music still inspire everyone till this day. Happy Birthday Mr. Cash! Illustration by Febrina Pertiwi
